I hope this blog post finds you well, but I must admit, I'm feeling a tinge of disappointment as I write this. As you know, we were eagerly looking forward to putting the Wiparty barge to use this Saturday. We had put in a lot of effort to prepare the barge and implement some updates that we couldn't wait to try. Alas, Mother Nature had other plans for us.
The dreaded Blue-Green Algae, a force not to be trifled with, made an appearance, and it posed a serious health risk. The safety and well-being of our boating community always come first, and risking anyone falling ill was not an option we were willing to entertain. It's heartbreaking to have to postpone the event, but it's undoubtedly the responsible choice.
Our band, Mistakes Were Made, had been all geared up to put on a show that would have left you breathless. I share your disappointment, as I know how much you were looking forward to their performance. As of now, I cannot guarantee a date for the event to be rescheduled this year due to scheduling issues. But I'm actively exploring all options. We're determined to get the barge on the water to test out all the improvements we've made.
I had the chance to get out on the water this week, and it was heartening to see the support and concern from fellow boaters. Many had questions about alternate plans, and I want to assure you that your voices have been heard. However, moving the barge and organizing alternative arrangements involves meticulous planning and ensuring public safety, which is our top priority.
While we may not have had our barge event, the weekend wasn't entirely without its share of fun. I had a blast hanging out with friends and spending two fantastic days at Streich's. The skies were filled with excitement as people flocked in from the EAA airshow, providing us with the opportunity to marvel at some incredible airplanes.
I have some photos and drone videos from the weekend's adventures. I hope these visuals can provide a glimpse of the joy we experience when we're out on the water, surrounded by friends and fellow boating nuts.
Though our plans hit a roadblock this time, we won't be discouraged. We're already brainstorming new and exciting ways to bring our boating community together and ensure everyone has a fantastic time on the water. So, stay tuned for updates, and let's keep our spirits high as we navigate these challenges together.
Thank you for your understanding and continuous support. Here's to many more boating adventures ahead!
