The opening weekend of sturgeon spearing was in full swing, and my great friends—owners of The Shanty Bar & Grill—knew exactly how to celebrate: with a tent party! The Shanty Bar & Grill was the place to be, buzzing with excitement as they registered sturgeon and kept the crowd entertained with live music from Dustin Lee from 2-5 PM.
Now, let’s talk about the snow—it was coming down hard! But did that stop people? Nope! Folks showed up in full force, ready to enjoy the party. When I arrived, cars were lined up way down the road. Luck was on my side, though—I snagged a prime parking spot (small victories, right?). Camera in hand, I made my way into the tent, and the energy was electric.
The crowd was pumped, lining up for the kickoff announcement. And what’s this? A shoutout for yours truly! Always appreciate the love! The UTVs were rolling in, and one lucky group even had a freshly registered sturgeon. Oh, and let’s not forget the brave souls who puckered up and gave the sturgeon a little kiss—does that bring good luck? I’m not sure, but it sure made for some epic photos!
Of course, no Wisconsin winter event is complete without some delicious eats. The Shanty Bar & Grill had burgers and brats sizzling, keeping everyone fueled for a day of winter fun.
There’s nothing better than finding something exciting to do on a snowy winter’s day, and The Shanty Bar & Grill knocked it out of the park with this one. I can’t wait to see what else they have planned for Lake Winnebago this year! Until then, check out the photos and videos—I’ve got all the highlights!
