Fridays have a way of setting the tone for the weekend. This past Friday, however, the weather was anything but promising. Rain clouds loomed, and I watched as a slew of live music events got canceled. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life has a funny way of surprising you, especially when you least expect it.
Just as I was about to resign myself to a quiet night in, a message pinged on my phone. Some of my great friends—those wonderful people you’re lucky to have in your life—had sent out an invitation. They were headed to the Clear Water Harbor Bar on the chain of lakes in Waupaca and wanted me to join. I hadn’t been there in ages, not since my childhood when we’d make the occasional family outing to this charming spot.
The idea of revisiting a place from my past while enjoying the company of friends was too good to pass up. So, I jumped in my car and made the drive to Waupaca, reminiscing about old times and looking forward to new memories.
Upon arrival, the familiar sights and sounds of Clear Water Harbor Bar welcomed me like an old friend. The atmosphere was buzzing despite the dreary weather. Adding to the excitement was Brad Emanuel, a musician I’d heard about for years but never had the chance to see live. Tonight, that was about to change.
Brad Emanuel lived up to every bit of his reputation. The man is a showman through and through. His voice, rich and captivating, drew everyone in. But it wasn’t just his musical talent that stood out—it was his ability to connect with the crowd, making each person feel like part of the performance. He had us all singing along, laughing, and truly enjoying the moment.
The people-watching that night was on point too. Bachelorette parties, birthday celebrations, a cowboy, and even a surfer dude added to the eclectic and lively crowd. It was one of those nights where the mix of characters only amplified the fun.
As the night wore on, the good vibes didn’t let up. My friend Norm, ever the generous host, offered me a spot to crash at his nearby cabin. This gesture turned a great night into an epic one, complete with a little after-bar partying that felt like a scene from a movie. Music, laughter, and the warmth of good company carried us into the early hours.
It’s nights like these that remind you why life is beautiful. Great friends, unforgettable music, and the unexpected twists that turn a rainy day into a legendary night out. If you ever get the chance to see Brad Emanuel live, don’t miss it. And if you find yourself near Waupaca, Clear Water Harbor Bar is a must-visit.
I hope you enjoy the videos and photos from that night. Keep living your best life, embracing the surprises, and cherishing every moment.
