Introduction: There's something magical about spending a day out on the water, embracing the freedom and tranquility that it offers. Last Sunday presented a perfect opportunity for an adventure, as my friend called me up, eager to hit the waves. With my kids away, I eagerly grabbed my camera, packed some treats, and headed out the door.
Setting Sail: We set our sights on Oshkosh, knowing that the 24th Street ramp would be our gateway to the lake. Assessing the wind direction, we anticipated that Streich might be a bit rough due to the northerly winds. As soon as we ventured onto the water, we spotted the Porto family in their iconic Cigarette Top Gun, cooking across the lake. We decided to follow in hot pursuit.
An Unexpected Turn: Our journey took us to Streich, but the waves proved too fierce for our liking. We could see other boaters retreating as well, not willing to deal with the conditions. We made the decision to redirect our course towards the sand pit Upon reaching Lake Butte des Morts, our eyes caught sight of a lively group gathered near Sunset Bay. Without hesitation, we changed direction and soon found ourselves in a peaceful cove, sheltered from the wind and waves.
Fun in the Sun: We gladly tied our boat to our friends' boat and embarked on a day filled with laughter, games, and the warmth of the sun. The calm waters provided an ideal backdrop for swimming, water sports, and simply basking in the sun. We had some delicious snacks, and refreshing drinks, and created more memories.
A Quick Pit Stop: As the day began to wind down, we reluctantly decided it was time to head back. However, our desire to extend our time on the water led us to make a quick stop at the South Side Ice Yacht Club. We got a quick drink, and talked with fellow boating enthusiasts.
A Serene Evening on the Lake: To our delight, the waves had subsided completely, leaving behind a glassy surface that mirrored the sky above. We marveled at this amazing scene and couldn't resist the temptation to stay a little longer.
Conclusion: As the golden hour gradually gave way to dusk, we finally had to accept that our day on the water had come to an end. This Sunday Funday had truly been another amazing day.
I have a bunch of pictures for you to check out as well as a video slideshow of all the photos or you can see all the pictures on the Wiparty Boating Photo Gallery.
