Last week, on Monday, the weather was so gorgeous. We got a call from a friend and he wanted to have us take the boat for a run from Oshkosh up to Fremont. My wife and daughter were available for the afternoon. We grabbed the dog and jumped into the car and hauled it down to Oshkosh to meet up. We set off from Rainbow park in Oshkosh. This is always a nice boat launch and an easy spot to take off if you are heading up the river to Winneconne or farther North. We didn't stop anywhere and got up to Fremont pretty quick since the slow no wakes are not enforced during the week. We ran up the river to Red Banks. We were going to stop. But it didn't look open. So we headed back to Fremont. We planned on stopping at the Bridge bar but they looked closed and are in the middle of redoing the patio outside. So we stopped at the Fremont Hotel. I have to admit the docks need some love. There are high-lifted nails along the whole pier. A barefoot nightmare to say the least. We got up to the deck and there was actually a fair amount of people at the bar for a Monday. They only had one bartender and one server out on the deck. After we got a few drinks we sat down at a table overlooking the river, ordered some food, and hung out for a while. Then jumped back in the boat and headed up the river to the little boom island sand bar and pulled up on the sand. Let the dog out and hung out for about an hour. With the loss of daylight this time of the year, we headed back and made it to Lake Poygan and decided to stop for a minute. The water temp was still super nice so we jumped in and enjoyed what we figured would be our last trip up the river for the year. We also stopped by Terrell Island on Lake Butte De Mortes and hung out for a while. We got back just after dark. Overall another great run and a beautiful day out on the water. So sad to think this season is already coming to an end. Here are some photos for you to check out! See all the photos on the Wiparty Boating Photo Gallery.
