On Friday, I dragged my buddy down with me to retrieve the Crownline Boat and check for a water leak. You see, we had been toiling away on the Barge all day, and I figured it was high time for some boating adventures. So off we went, to get some sun and fun.
As luck would have it, just when we thought our fun would start, we discovered oil leaking from the props on the lower unit. It was as if the boat was determined to keep us landlocked, mocking our dreams of boating bliss. Talk about a real party pooper!
But hey, we were in Oshkosh, so we decided to salvage the day and check out this crazy boat my friend Beth from Pioneer couldn't stop raving about. She told us it was a paddle-wheeler with a car top, which honestly sounded like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. We arrived at the scene, and lo and behold, there it was—the most eccentric vessel we had ever laid our eyes upon. It was like a floating carnival ride had collided with a old car. Quirky doesn't even begin to describe it!
We couldn't contain our excitement and sought out Beth, who happened to be there. She pointed us in the right direction, and we had to check out this old paddle wheeler. I swear, it had more surprises than a magician's hat. I am hoping to sit down with the owner later to unravel the boat's full story. It must be a tale worth telling!
Oh, and guess what? In the midst of our misadventures, we discovered that some of our boating buddies were hanging out at Ground Round. Talk about a serendipitous encounter! We headed over there, ready to drown our boat-related sorrows with good company and riverfront shenanigans. And wouldn't you know it, we stumbled upon two ladies capturing selfies by the river. I couldn't help but offer to knock out some photos for them.
Sure, it was a bit disappointing to have both my boats out of commission, but we clung to the hope that next week would bring better luck. We laughed and swapped boat stories until we decided it was time to bid farewell to the river and venture off to see Start Six Nine at Maloney's.
I have a bunch of pictures for you to check out as well as a video slideshow of all the photos or you can see all the pictures on the Wiparty Boating Photo Gallery.
