Friday nights have a certain magic, especially when the kiddos are out until 10. This past Friday, I found myself with a chance to explore and gather a new story—something I always look forward to. So, when I noticed that Steve Arnold was performing at the Rusted Roost in Menasha—a quick jaunt from home—I knew where my night was headed.
A Double Bonus: Steve Arnold and a New Venue
It had been a while since I’d caught one of Steve’s shows, and I’d yet to visit Rusted Roost. The excitement doubled when I discovered they had a rooftop bar. Score! Walking into Rusted Roost, I was immediately impressed by the lower level’s design—nicely done, but my eyes were set on the prize: live music and a rooftop view.
The Rooftop Experience
The journey upstairs was as inviting as the destination itself. The lighted stairs added a touch of cool ambiance, and the brick-backed bar was a visual delight as soon as you stepped onto the rooftop. What really caught my attention, though, were the two large garage doors that opened onto a rooftop patio that had it all.
Roosters seemed to be the theme—there were statues and art pieces throughout, giving the space a quirky, rustic charm. The furniture was perfect for lounging, and the two sizable fire barrel spots, surrounded by wrap-around outdoor couches, beckoned to anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors in comfort.
Music, Drinks, and Good Vibes
Steve was set up right by one of those open garage doors, serenading the crowd as they lounged on the patio. The atmosphere was laid-back yet lively, and Steve’s mix of covers kept everyone entertained. I grabbed a beer from the bar—a nice spot with friendly service—and headed back out to soak up the music.
While enjoying the tunes, I struck up a conversation with a family from Oshkosh who were trying out some of Rusted Roost’s signature drinks, including the intriguing PB&J drink. Not sure if I’m ready to brave that one, but it’s definitely on my list for a future visit—maybe I’ll even do a video on their unique drink menu.
Final Thoughts
Rusted Roost in Menasha is a gem, especially if you’re looking for a cool spot to enjoy live music. The rooftop patio adds an extra layer of charm that makes it worth the visit. Steve Arnold delivered a great set, and the vibe of the place really made the night special. As always, I’ve got photos and videos for you to check out—don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself!
