Rock 'n' Roll Enthusiasts, gather 'round! Your favorite music junkie just had an unforgettable night at Thirst Bar and Grill, and boy, do I have a story for you. What I thought was going to be a triple threat of metal mayhem turned into an evening of surprises, stripped-down sets, and some serious headbanging. Let me take you on this rollercoaster ride through Appleton's vibrant music scene.
The Venue: Thirst Bar and Grill
Located in the heart of Appleton, Thirst Bar and Grill has become a staple for live music enthusiasts. As I walked in, the air was thick with anticipation (and maybe a little beer). The crowd was a perfect mix of metalheads and curious locals, all united by their love for live music.
Act 1: Would You Kindly? (But Make It Acoustic-ish)
First up was Would You Kindly?, and let me tell you, these folks are full of surprises. Instead of the full metal assault I was expecting, we got a dynamic duo that rocked the stage. With a couple of band members MIA , they stripped down their set, and holy smokes, did it work!
The lead singer's voice? I thought she was great. They belted out original tunes that had the crowd swaying and jammin in equal measure. Note to self: must see full band ASAP. Maybe they'll play "Blood in the Water," their award-winning rock anthem.
Act 2: Static Affliction took the stage, ready to unleash their unique blend of nu metal, metal, and hard rock. Based in the Fox Valley, these guys are known for their high-energy performances. However, during their set, it seemed like the lead singer's sound level was a bit low, which made it hard to fully appreciate his powerful vocals.
Their music style, which blends elements of rock and psychedelic influences, was evident in their performance. Although the sound level was an issue, the crowd remained engaged, and the band's enthusiasm was great.
Act 3: Unbroken (But Slightly Hoarse)
Last but not least, Unbroken stormed the stage like they were leading a metal revolution. Hair flying, guitars wailing, it was glorious chaos. Both singers mentioned they were getting over colds, but let me tell you, their "trashed" voices sounded better than mine on my best day.
These Wausau natives blend hard rock and metal like a fine whiskey – smooth, with a kick that'll knock your socks off. Even with scratchy throats, they screamed and sang their hearts out.
The Verdict
Thirst Bar and Grill once again proved why it's a beloved spot for live music in Appleton. From acoustic surprises to full-throttle metal, this night had it all. The crowd was electric, the beer was flowing, and the music? Well, let's just say my ears are still ringing (in the best way possible).
