As I immersed myself in the high-energy performance of the Wet Possum Band at Maloney's, I couldn't help but notice a familiar face on the other side of the bar. It was Scotty Austin, and he was deep in conversation with my buddy Norm. Just a few minutes later, Norm came over and asked if I'd be interested in capturing Scotty's upcoming set. The opportunity was too good to pass up.

Scotty Austin had made his way to Maloney's Venue Hall for a special event, the 15th annual Breastfest—a Cancer Benefit aimed at supporting a local individual who was in the midst of a challenging battle with cancer. The evening's lineup included Scotty Austin, the lead singer of Saving Abel, and six other bands, all ready to take the stage and rock for a cause.

The bands on the bill were an exciting mix of metal and rock acts, including Headstone, As Bullets Baptize, Scarlet, Ghidora, Grindge, and Mindz Eye. It was a metal extravaganza, and I was more than happy to be there to enjoy it.

What struck me as particularly inspiring was the fusion of local and national talent for a cause that transcends music. Anyone who has been touched by the struggles of a loved one fighting cancer knows just how financially challenging it can be. The burden of medical bills and related expenses can be overwhelming.

It's a testament to the power of music and the compassion of these musicians that they stood up to organize an event that was not only a blast for all in attendance but also a lifeline of support for someone battling cancer. It's heartwarming to witness the community coming together to rally behind one of their own, alleviating the burden of financial worries and allowing them to focus on the fight ahead.

So, to Scotty Austin and all the musicians who lent their talents to Breastfest, we say rock on, brothers and sisters. Your dedication to the cause and your willingness to make a difference through music is truly admirable. Keep up the good fight, and may your efforts continue to bring hope and support to those in need. Rock 'n' roll with a purpose, indeed.
