Sand Bar Bash 2024 is in the books, and what an event it was! I was lucky enough to join my friends Derek and Lauren on their boat this year. Their friendship and company always make for a good time. We left from Oshkosh and enjoyed a fantastic boat ride to Winneconne. As we pulled into the harbor around 8:45 in the morning, we saw about 20 boats that had beaten us there.
We locked in and set up on the GoFast side, right on the edge of the channel marks. This spot gave me a clear shot of the barge, perfect for capturing all the action. Bret from Oshkosh Dock & Lift brought in two barges to make this show happen. We watched as the RoadTrip band rolled in on the second barge and quickly set up. Boats and people kept arriving, and the excitement was building.
Zack and his team did a fantastic job of lining up boats and getting this show all put together. There's a lot that goes into getting this all ready—coordinating, getting volunteers, bringing out the bands, arranging the flyover, and more. It all went over without a hitch. So, great job, Zack! And let's not forget the sponsors! Without this amazing list of businesses, these events would never make a go.
The weather was perfect, and RoadTrip band rocked this huge crowd of water lovers all day long. I even got up on the barge to get some amazing photos, capturing the energy and joy of the event from both the barge and the channel.
This incredible day on the water not only provided fun and entertainment but also supported a great cause—the Old Glory Honor Flight Program. Seeing the community come together for such a worthy cause added a special touch to an already fantastic event.
As always, I have photos and videos for you to check out, so you can relive the magic of Sand Bar Bash 2024. Mark your calendars for next year because you won’t want to miss it!
