Now, let's get into the nitty-gritty of this green-tinted escapade. Picture this: the wind was howling, the chill cutting through my bones like a saw through soft wood. But did that deter us? Hell no! Me, my daughter, and my friend were on a mission – to soak up every bit of St. Patty's Day spirit New London had to offer.
We arrived at the parade, the streets alive with a riot of color, music, and laughter. Sure, I didn't have my act together to be in this year parade, but that didn't dampen our spirits. We plunged headfirst into the revelry, cheering on the floats and soaking in the infectious energy of the crowd.
But alas, the cold proved too formidable a foe. After about an hour, we decided to beat a retreat, my daughter and my friend needing warmth like a desert needs rain. Dropping off my daughter safe and sound, I made a beeline back to the heart of the action – the beer tent.
Now, let me tell you, getting a beer in that place was like trying to catch a fish with your bare hands – a challenge, but damn satisfying when you finally succeed. The band was belting out tunes left and right, but truth be told, the noise was so deafening, you could barely make out a word.
After catching up with some old pals and downing a few cold ones, we decided to switch venues and head over to the CR Waterfront bar. And let me tell you, folks, that place was hopping! We spent a couple of hours there, soaking in the atmosphere, tossing back a few more drinks, and enjoying some quality people-watching.
Overall, it was a St. Patty's Day for the books. But the night was still young, and there was one more stop on the agenda – Willie Beamons to catch a performance by the Kitty Corona band. But that, my friends, is the next tale for you.
So here's to another year of shamrock shenanigans, laughter, and good times. Until next time, keep on keepin' on, folks. Sláinte!
