Saturday, the weather was beautiful, and my kids had their own plans. I couldn't resist the call of the water, so I decided to take the party pontoon out for a solo adventure. By late morning, I was ready to roll, small cooler in tow, and the toon hooked up. I headed to the Manitowoc Street Launch in Menasha, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves about launching a 30ft boat by myself.
Slow and steady, I managed the launch smoothly and set off on Lake Winnebago. My initial plan was to cruise out to High Cliff. As I got closer, the water grew a bit choppy, so I decided to take it easy and float for a while, savoring the serenity and snapping some photos of fellow boaters enjoying their day.
Feeling adventurous, I steered south towards my friend’s new spot, The Shanty Bar, just south of High Cliff. The waves made me hesitate to approach the shore, so I noted it for a future visit. The plans for this bar are big, and I'm excited to see what unfolds. Stay tuned for more updates!
Next, I aimed for Waverly Beach. Halfway across, I paused to soak in the scenery and relish the lake's tranquility. Upon reaching Waverly Beach, I anchored a bit further out to make my departure easier against the waves. It was amusing to see people's curiosity about a solo captain on a 30ft pontoon. I basked in the sun, enjoyed a few drinks, and relished the perfect day.
After a few hours of sun and fun, I navigated back up the river to the launch. Landing the toon on the seawall and wrestling it back onto the trailer was a workout, but I managed it and headed home, content from a fantastic day on the water.
As always, I have some photos for you to enjoy. Until the next adventure, keep the party going!
