Friday night called for another dive into the local music scene, and this time, I was ready to check out a fresh duo making waves in Appleton: S.W.S. Straight Whiskey Serenade, aka "The Chaos." Cassandra, Logan, and Goose (the lovable Springer Spaniel) brought the heat—and let’s just say, if you were not there you missed out on something great.
So, why do I go to certain spots? People ask me all the time. The simple answer: new music. I live for discovering bands like this. And while the turnout was a little sparse for this show (too bad for those who missed out), I was lucky enough to catch these guys just as they were getting started.
Cassandra has a voice that packs a punch—think Alanis Morissette with a twist of soul. A couple of folks around me mentioned how her voice really stood out, and I couldn’t agree more. Logan, adds his own unique voice and energy to the duo, and it’s clear that they’ve got a solid chemistry together. They played a great mix of originals, with a couple of solos that really let Cassandra’s voice shine.
But the real crowd favorite wasn’t just the music—it was Goose. Yes, Goose the dog, who became the unofficial mascot of the night. People couldn’t resist stopping by to give him some love. The dog might’ve been the only thing with a bigger fan club than Cassandra’s voice. Seriously, Goose had everyone lining up to pet him, and his adorable face was the star of the show!
While the crowd may have been light, the energy was still there. These guys brought their all, and it was clear they’re ready to go places. If you’re into live music, Straight Whiskey Serenade is definitely a band to keep on your radar. And let’s not forget THIRST BAR and GRILL's amazing stage and service—on point, as always.
